Superstar Akshay Kumar posted a list of four films starring him to be released in 2017 on the first day of the year & R. Balki’s Pad Man was one of them. Now it’s confirmed that Sonam Kapoor is going to be a part of the film based on a true story. Pad Man is actually a biopic on Arunachalam Muruganantham, who was demeaned by his fellow villagers when he started to find a way to make cheap & affordable sanitary pads for women in his village. Sonam took to Instagram to share her excitement on being a part of the extraordinary movie. “Thrilled to be a part of this prestigious project. R. Balki, Akshay Kumar, Twinkle Khanna, Pad Man,” she wrote.
After Anees Bazmee’s 2011 film Thank You, this R. Balki directorial will be the second venture of Akshay and Sonam together. The film is being produced by Akshay’s wife Twinkle Khanna’s new recently launched house, Mrs. Funnybones Movies, named after her pen name as a columnist. Twinkle has already chronicled the story of Arunachalam Muruganantham in a short story, The Sanitary Man in her book The Legend of Laxmi Prasad.
